Poetry - Loneliness

Loneliness

There's nothing like the sound
Of loneliness.
Nothing deadens it,
Not even Vavaldi, a glass of merlot,
The gap-toothed smile of David Letterman.

Nor does a starlit night,
A hot spa, half empty,
A microwave dinner crammed with penne pasta.

Nothing seems to help.
